Rogue Zombie Update 3 [Small] Change Log
Hi folks!
Today, I released update 3 for Rogue Zombie.
I have a lot more going on for the next next update, and this was finished a week or so ago, but I didn’t get far enough on update 3_1 to justify releasing it.
Soooooo I wanted to release this intermediate build while I’m working on the next update!
But this is the most recent Update 3 that I’m comfortable with releasing for the moment! But don’t worry, stay tuned! New Update soon! Read below for a sneak peak!
Below are the general changes in this version 3:
- Changed from Development to Shipping build of game
- Limited map selection for the build for smaller download and game sizes.
- Uploaded Music and Visual assets to Itch -> Get all my screen shots, videos, source files, and original soundtrack with it!
- Cleaned up some issues with controller inputs not being correct
- Added Kill Counter to top right of HUD
- Changed enemy spawn pooling method to reuse zombies instead of destroying actors and having to release and reallocate memory, hopefully causing an improvement in performance
- Adjusted weapon projectile and explosion VFX to use less particles for hopefully better performance
- Updated City Map for more walkways, buildings, and exit portals/extractions
- Added zombie and weapon to lobby for testing and fun! - Fixed animation issue on lobby zombie too

Update 3_1 is internally finished and packaged, but it still needs some bug fixes and work before I’m comfortable releasing those changes. This will likely become update 3_2 or Update 4 [Large] since I am still adding new things to it and it’s quickly becoming a sizable addition to the game.
A sneak peak to the future update so far are:
- New weapons!
- New Map!
- New Zombie!
- New Weapon visuals!
- New Fancy rainbow light posts ?? SURE, YEAH
- And of course, more bug fixes.

The newest update needs some fixes and work, but expect to see it fairly soon! I’ll likely do a major update for the general changes and then hopefully put out even more new weapons and enemies once the weapon framework is properly tested and working!

It’s been really fun working on this project. It’s been the first time I’ve released an updated since the Game Jam fully ended. This game didn’t score particularly well, but I’m hoping to make it the best I can physically can regardless of scores or reviews.
I’ve been enjoying playing this dumb little shooter, often forgetting to stop playing while I’m working on it. I hope someone can enjoy it as much as I do! And as much joy as it gives me when making it, too!
